Children's Resource and Referral Program
A program of SB Family Care Center. They provide complete information
and referral on children's programs, activities, services, and agencies
including centers, nursery schools, pre-schools, & licensed

Healthy Start is a collaborative effort by public and private agencies
that connects at-risk families with existing community resources
and information at or near the school site. In Santa Barbara and
Lompoc, eight bilingual Family Advocates provide case management
services and support to increase parent involvement in their children's
education. In Lompoc, FSA staff also provides clinical counseling.
FSA and the Carpinteria Unified School District are now working
to establish a new Healthy Start site at Canalino School. These
services are offered at no charge.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters program matches at risk youth, aged
7 to 17, with adult mentors to create all-important, one-on-one
relationships. Mentors devote four hours a week for one year. The
adults and youth spend the year having fun and exploring personal,
social, cultural and health/hygiene issues essential in producing
lasting changes.

The Child Guidance Program has been helping troubled children and
their families since 1982. The professional staff specializes in
the early identification, intervention and treatment of behavioral
social and emotional problems in young children. Staff includes
a consulting psychologist, bilingual, bicultural and licensed clinicians
and graduate-level interns. Fees are based on a sliding-fee scale.

Community-Based Services consist of parent education and family
support services in the workplace and at community-based locations.
The Pro-Youth Coalition/Strengthening Families Collaborative works
with at-risk children and their families in neighborhoods with high
instances of gang involvement and violence. Topics include stress
management, balancing work and family and parenting issues. Working
directly with parents, children and teachers, FSA staff members
offer practical suggestions regarding behavioral and emotional problems
and developmental issues in children.
F.A.S.T. (Families and Schools Together)

FAST is an intensive prevention and early intervention program for
children and their families in elementary. Designed for youth at
