It is through people that the mission of the University takes shape. Therefore, it is critical to cultivate the talents and skills of employees to ensure the success of individuals and the University. The training and education programs at UCSB offer a range of opportunities to improve current work skills and to prepare staff for new roles within a changing organization.

Can I participate in training programs?

All employees are encouraged to participate in training and development activities. Many of the classes and programs offered at UCSB are open to all employees, others are designed for specific groups. Where do I find training and development opportunities?

Who pays for training and development classes?

The employee's department generally pays the enrollment fee and travel expenses associated with training and development events. Employees wishing to attend a class or program must obtain approval from the department.

When are classes offered?

Most classes and workshops are offered during the workday. Employees are released from regular duties to attend training and development events.

How do I enroll?

Each university program has an enrollment form that the training participant completes and submits to the coordinating department. Please see Classes and Workshops for more information about specific programs and classes.
