How to Use the Salary Scales

Code: Definition
Title: Four-digit numeric code which indicates individual titles, followed by the payroll title of the position.
OT: Overtime exemption status identifies classes that are eligible for premium overtime.

N = Classes eligible for premium overtime (non-exempt)
E = Classes not eligible for premium overtime (exempt)

Unit This is the Collective Bargaining Unit Code (Title-Unit-Code), a two-digit (TUC): number which identifies the bargaining unit in which the title is located.

99=No Unit
CX=CUE Clerical Unit
EX=AFSCME Patient Care Technical Unit
HX=Health Care Professionals
K8=Skilled Crafts Unit-Operating Engineers Local 501
NX=CNA Registered Nurses Unit
SX=AFSCME Service Unit
TX=UPTE Technical Unit
PA=FUPOA (Federated University Police Officers Assn)

REP: Representation code indicates if the salary listed is for a position in or out of the bargaining unit.

COV = Salary is for positions covered by the unit (represented)
UNC= Salary is for positions not covered by the unit (unrepresented)
NOTE: If title is in SMG, MSP, PSS (rather than bargaining unit), it is indicated here.

GRD/RT: Will show numeric grade if ÒgradedÓ title; otherwise rate code for staff titles:
HR=hourly rate
MO=monthly rate
YR=yearly rate
SALARIES: The rates are listed as monthly, hourly, and yearly amounts by step for staff titles. For graded titles, rates are listed as minimum, mid-point, and maximum for the grade, in both monthly and hourly amount.

NOTE: Not all titles listed are in use at UCSB.
