ACADEMIC COMPENSATION GROUP

 

Group of academic title codes that have common range adjustment calculation rules or compensation policies.

CTO

Primary Occupation Group to which an academic title is assigned for reporting purposes.

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT
(also BARGAINING UNIT)

CBU

Collective Bargaining Unit to which a title belongs (see “Title Unit Code”).

COVERED

COV

Covered under a Collective Bargaining Unit. AKA “Represented”.

EXEMPT

 

Employees who do not receive overtime compensation. Greater emphasis is placed on meeting the responsibilities assigned to the position than on working a specified number of hours.

FEDERAL OCCUPATIONAL SUBGROUP

 

Code indicating the specific job classification in which a title code is included for federal reporting purposes.

GRADE

 

Salary range used for multiple titles. Used for Non-Represented (Uncovered) staff.

LINKAGE CODE

 

Code used to indicate groups of title codes that have similarity of job content, or physical or organizational proximity, or similarity of job responsibility or career pathing.

MANAGERS & SENIOR PROFESSIONALS

MSP

Personnel program for Staff. Title codes are 0200 through 0799.

MERIT-BASED PAY

 

AKA “Open Range”. No steps in range. Salary range will show minimum, midpoint and maximum rates.

NON-ACADEMIC TITLE

 

Staff title.

NON-EXEMPT

 

Employees who are eligible to earn overtime. Straight-time rate is earned for overtime hours not exceeding 40 hours of actual work in a workweek. Premium overtime is compensated at the time-and-one-half rate for all hours worked after 40 hours in a workweek.

NON-REPRESENTED

 

Not represented by a Collective Bargaining Unit. AKA “Uncovered” and “Unrepresented”.

OCCUPATIONAL SUBGROUP
(Staff titles only)

 

Primary Occupation Group to which a staff title is assigned for reporting purposes.

ON-CALL RATES

 

Compensation for an employee being required to inform employer how he can be reached during his regular time away from work.

PAY REPRESENTATION

 

AKA “Rep Code”. Indicates whether a pay rate is applicable to “covered” or “uncovered” employees.

PREMIUM OVERTIME ELIGIBILITY

 

Only non-exempt employees are eligible for premium overtime. (See “Non-exempt”)

PROFESSIONAL & SUPPORT STAFF

PSS

Personnel Program for Staff. Title codes are 4000 and greater.

REPRESENTED

 

Represented by a Collective Bargaining Unit. AKA “Covered”.

SAFETY STATUS

 

Code indicating whether a title is eligible for special retirement contribution rates. (Some incumbents holding the title will not be eligible.)

SENIOR MANAGEMENT GROUP

SMG

Personnel Program for Staff. Title codes are 0001 through 0199.

SHIFT RATES (SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL)

 

Compensation for working an assigned shift on an evening, night or weekend.

STANDARD HOURS/WEEK

 

Number of hours in a workweek which is considered standard for a particular title code.

STANDARD OCCUPATIONAL CATEGORY

 

Code indicating the primary occupation group to which a title is assigned for affirmative action reporting purposes.

STEPPED RATES

 

Rates based on specific intervals or steps within salary range. Range will show numerated steps and half-steps (1.0, 1.5, etc.).

SUB LOCATION

 

Location contained within a campus, such as a medical center.

TIER

 

Personnel Program level for Staff.
Tier 1 – Professional & Support Staff (PSS)
Tier 2 – Managers & Senior Professionals (MSP) or Senior Management Group (SMG)

TITLE CODE

 

4-digit code identifying a (job) title.
0001 – 0799:  Staff (MSP) titles
0800 – 3999:  Academic titles
4000 & greater:  Staff titles

TITLE CODE SYSTEM

TCS

University-wide online database with all academic and staff titles and rates.

TITLE NAME

 

Name of a position associated with a title code.

TITLE UNIT CODE

TUC

2-character code identifying Collective Bargaining Unit to which a title belongs. (CX, TX, K8, etc.) See “Collective Bargaining Unit”.

UNCOVERED

UNC

Not covered under a Collective Bargaining Unit. AKA “Unrepresented” and “Non-represented”.

UNREPRESENTED

 

Not represented by a Collective Bargaining Unit. AKA “Uncovered” and “Non-represented”.
