Subject: RX & TX Merits - Status=H
January 4, 2008
Web Merit Preparers:
Welcome to the start of the web merit process for RX & TX employees!
There are two cycles to process RX and TX employees. Your department
may need to use one, two, or none of these cycles, depending on
whether you have RX and/or TX employees. The cycles are called
RXJAN2008 and TXJAN2008 and are currently at status = H, meaning a
Preliminary roster has been created and is open for Control Points to
review.
**Note that department level access to review the preliminary roster
will NOT be available until status = D on Monday and no entry takes
place until January 10th. **
Please remember that all instructions and help documents can be found
at our web site:
http://hr.ucsb.edu/hris/web_merits.php
You may also reach this site by going to the Human Resources home page
(hr.ucsb.edu) and selecting "PPS" under shortcuts, then select "Web-
Based Merit System".
It is very important to read the Guidelines and Procedures found
under "RX & TX" on the above site before you proceed. If you need help
in navigating the web merit system, please read the "System
Instructions" document. Most commonly asked questions can be found in
the Frequently-Asked-Questions document.
TIPS
1. Reviewing your Preliminary roster is extremely important. This is
the time period to make certain your roster has the correct
population. If someone is missing, it may be because there are no
distributions in PPS for 2008.
2. We recommend the use of Internet Explorer (IE) for your web
browser, if possible.
3. If you report time on any of these merit-eligible employees, please
remember to wait until the merit process is completed, about January
18th.
4. When reviewing your roster, please check the current rate and step
fields on each employee. The web merit system requires these fields
to be both present and accurate. Corrections can be made in PPS
during this preliminary stage in order to be picked up on the final
roster.
