RE: UCSB Furlough/Salary Reduction Implementation Information Workshop
For Furlough/Salary Reduction Plan Administrators ONLY
The UC furlough/salary reduction plan began September 1st. Over the past several months, staff from the Office of the President have been providing the locations with information and periodic updates. UCSB's offices of Human Resources and Academic Personnel have been responding to questions from the cam
pus. Questions continue to be raised as the plan is implemented and new information emerges almost daily.
To assist our campus staff in implementing the furlough/salary reduction plan and to answer questions about the plan, a comprehensive website has been set-up at:

Information concerning the Furlough Exchange Program for faculty is available at the site as well as at:

Please note that aspects of this program are still under review at the Office of the President. Further instruction will be forthcoming as it is available.
In addition, representatives from the offices of Academic Personnel, Accounting Services and Controls, and Human Resources will conduct four workshops beginning the week of September 14th. The workshops will address:
*An overview of how the furlough/salary reduction plan works
*Initial salary reduction process (note: UCOP will be conducting a one-time program next week to create the appropriate salary reduction lines in PPS EDB)
*Faculty Exchange Program
*Ongoing management of the pay reduction and timekeeping
*Other issues and questions from the participants
To make the most effective use of your time, workshop content will assume you are familiar with the UCOP and UCSB FAQs. Please review this information at the above website before attending the workshop and check back often for updates.
Mark your calendar to attend ONE of these sessions. We hope the website and workshops will help departments with the furlough/salary reduction process. Keep in mind that not all aspects about the plan have been worked out, but we will keep you posted with new information as it becomes available.
