RE: VSO Update - 501 (K8) participation
As announced in a memo to the campus on August 3, 2009, the University has
launched the Voluntary Separation Option (VSO) program. This program will
enable the campus to realize salary savings while awarding eligible and
interested employees a severance payment for ending their university
employment.
At the time of the program's launch, only certain groups of employees were
eligible to participate in VSO. Participation for represented employees is
determined by collective bargaining, and unions that have agreed to the
program are being added to the participation list as they occur. The most
recent agreement for participation in the program has come from the 501 -
Skilled Trades union (K8).
The current list of employee groups now eligible to participate in VSO
include:
- Staff (non-probationary career appointments, PSS and MSP):
- Non-represented (99)
- Represented:
CX - Clerical
TX - Technical
RX - Research Support Professionals
HX - Health Care Professionals
501 - Skilled Trades (K8)
Human Resources will continue to notify the campus as soon as possible with
regards to VSO program participation for other represented employees.
Human Resources will be presenting an information workshop on the VSO
program on Wednesday, August 19th, 11:00 am - 12:00 noon, HR Learning
Center, 3101 SAASB.
Complete details about the VSO program are available on the website.
