RE: 2008-09 Staff Recognition & Development Program (SRDP)

I am pleased to announce the Staff Recognition & Development Program (SRDP) for this year, 2008-09. This program provides cash awards and development support for policy-covered (non-represented) staff employees under the 2008-09 Staff Recognition and Development Program (SRDP) consistent with PPSM 34. PPSM 34 encourages excellence in University service, recognizes and rewards significant achievements and contributions, recognizes and rewards outstanding individuals and team performance, and supports professional development.

As you may know, campus departments' annual payroll of non-represented employees is assessed funds to cover the cost of the SRDP. After a recent review and approval of our program by the Office of the President to ensure compliance with recent Regental directives, we are now ready to use the funds generated by this assessment.

This year's SRDP is similar to past programs. The program is delegated to the six primary campus divisions. This delegation gives the Vice Chancellors, within guidelines developed by Human Resources in compliance with Regental changes, the flexibility to structure a program as desired for their departments. The general campus guidelines are as follows:

TYPES OF AWARD PROGRAMS

Departments may choose to pay the awards one or more of the following ways:

1) Individual/Team Achievement Awards - Limited to $1,000/Year for Each Eligible Employee. These awards are non-base building and are paid in lump sums.
a. Cash awards for recognition for sustained excellent performance
b. Cash awards for achievements on short-term projects and assignments

2) Development Awards - No Dollar Limit: A Development Award may be
granted to an employee for training and/or development that is job-related
or part of an approved career development plan.

ELIGIBILITY
