RE:            2010 Maximum Annual Contribution Limits for 403(b) and 457(b) Plans


Employees who wish to maximize their contributions to the UC Retirement
Savings Program's Tax-Deferred 403(b) and/or 457(b) Deferred Compensation
Plans should be aware of the maximum contribution limits for 2010.

For 2010, the Maximum Annual Contribution Limit for each plan will be $16,500.  For employees who are age 50 by December 31, 2010, the limit is $22,000.  In addition, some employees may be eligible to make additional contributions under the lifetime catch-up provisions of the plans.  Please call Fidelity Retirement Services (1-866-682-7787) for details.

The UCSB payroll window in which to make a change or new contribution to
affect the first pay date in 2010 (January 1, 2010) is:

--Tax-Deferred 403(b) Plan:  December 1, 2009 through December 12, 2009;
--457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan:  November 1, 2009 through November 30,
2009 (5:00pm PT).

To make changes to these plans, call Fidelity Retirement Services at 1-866-682-7787, Monday through Friday, 5:00am to 9:00pm (PT), OR go online to NetBenefits at http://www.netbenefits.com

Special Note for 2009 Tax Year:  The UCSB payroll deadline to make or change the final 2009 tax year contribution (paycheck dated December 1, 2009) is:

--November 14, 2009, for the 403(b) Plan;
--October 31, 2009, for the 457(b) Plan (5:00pm PT).
