RE:  VSO Update - AFSCME (SX and EX) Participation

As announced in a memo to the campus on August 3, 2009, the University
launched the Voluntary Separation Option (VSO) program. This program
enables the campus to realize salary savings while awarding eligible and
interested employees with a severance payment for ending their university
employment.

At the time of the program's launch, only certain groups of employees were
eligible to participate in the VSO. Participation for represented employees
is determined by collective bargaining, and unions that have agreed to the
program are being added to the participation list as they occur. The most
recent agreement for participation in the program has come from AFSCME (SX
and EX).

The current list of employee groups now eligible to participate in the VSO
include:

- Staff (non-probationary career appointments, PSS and MSP):
- Non-represented (99)
- Represented:
        CX - Clerical
        TX - Technical
        RX - Research Support Professionals
        HX - Health Care Professionals
        K8 - Skilled Crafts
        SX - Service
        EX - Patient Care Technical

As a reminder, in order to participate in the Voluntary Separation Option
Program, the completed election form must be received by Human Resources no
later than Monday, September 14, 2009, at 5:00 pm.
