On Wednesday May 13th, and Tuesday May 26th, the Work/Life Office of Human Resources is offering a free workshop for staff and faculty on Benefits & Medi-Cal Benefits for Elder Care and Legal Preparation for Aging & Incapacity.

In this two-part workshop series, attorney Dallas Atkins will talk about assessing your parents' legal preparedness and your own for both expected and unexpected incapacity. Learn about legal documents focusing on preserving autonomy and protecting assets from depletion.

Topics to be discussed include:

1. What is the most important legal document that everyone needs to have, regardless of the size of their estate?
2. Why is there such a thing as a useless financial power of attorney?
   
3. How can good financial powers of attorney avoid the need for court work during life or when elder care is needed?
4. Why is a will not enough in most cases?
5. What does a living trust do during life and after death?
6. Who needs a living trust and who does not?
7. What can go wrong with using the internet or a document service for your powers of attorney?  When do I lose more than I pay for?
8. What is a living trust mill, and how does it lead to exploitation?
