Staff employees at UC Santa Barbara work in variety of positions serving the campus community. Some of these positions, based on job title classification, are organized into collective bargaining units that are exclusively represented by a union or employee organization. There are twelve collective bargaining units (CBU) on the UC Santa Barbara campus. If your position falls within one of these units, it's likely that you were informed about this when you were hired.
If you are unsure, you can:
- check with your supervisor, department personnel representative, or
- search the Salary Scales for your job title classification.
The Salary Scales indicate whether your job title classification falls into a specific unit by code. (The campus often uses these codes as an informal reference for the bargaining units.)
Unions at UCSB lists the title code, unit, and the union/employee organization representing the unit.
If your position is not represented by a union, you are a non-exclusively represented employee (often referred to by the code "99") and are covered by the University's Personnel Policies for Staff Members.
