Recruitment for Contract Appointments

Term contracts DO require open recruitment. Industry standard contracts do NOT require open recruitment, however, recruitment for contract positions is normally emphasized unless for reasons of compelling business necessity. For more information see: The recruitment process

Forms

Contract: Several templates are available for departments to use. All parties must sign the contract.

Job Description:
Every contract position must have a job description completed and a UCSB staff classification title approved by a Compensation analyst. Contacting your Compensation analyst prior to submitting recruitment paperwork will help prevent any delays in establishing a title and meeting advertising deadlines. All parties must sign the job description.

Employment Requisition: This form is required for all recruitments. For industry standard contracts that are not openly recruited, only a contract and a job description are required.

Responsibilities of the Hiring Department
In addition to submitting complete and timely paperwork, the department is responsible for identifying funding sources for all payments to an employee under contract and assuring that the contract employee possesses all the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the position.
