Membership Invitation
As a retiree of UCSB, you have provided priceless service to our campus during the course of your employment. The Retirees' Association in turn would like to be of service to you. The following features of the Retirees' Association are provided to all members:- Interaction among retirees through a diversity of programs.
- Enjoyment of new, continued, and renewed friendships among its members.
- Assist members in understanding U.C. benefits available to them.
- Social activities, luncheons, and barbecue.
An annual Christmas party is held at the Elk's Lodge where retirees are encouraged to bring gifts for less fortunate children within our community. The food is always great, and with holiday music in the background a fun social hour is enjoyed before lunch is served.
The Retirees' Association has donated four scholarships of $1,000, each to be given to a UCSB undergraduate from Santa Barbara. Two scholarships will be given this year. We hope to continue this donation every year.
To date, members have taken pleasure in a Palm Springs and Laughlin getaway trips. At the breakfast meetings speakers have covered a broad range of topics such as Personal Finances, S.B. Museum of Natural History, Scholarship Foundation, and Santa Barbara Before the 1925 Earthquake.
The UCSB Retirees' Association is a member of the Council of University of California Retiree Associations (CUCRA). CUCRA, in addition to sharing information about programs among the several associations, works closely with the Council of UC Emeriti Associations to monitor and recommend to the UC President's Office and Regents on health and retirement benefit matters. CUCRA also monitors legislation and proposed changes by the State which can also affect UC's retirement system's policies. Occasionally CUCRA has arranged social events and travel for UC retirees of all campuses.
