Emergency Vacation Leave Sharing Program

The Emergency Vacation Leave Sharing Program (EVLSP) permits salary and benefits continuation for employees who have exhausted all vacation and compensatory time accruals when their presence is needed to assist family or friends who have been directly affected by Hurricane Katrina, or they are participating in disaster relief work but are not eligible for administrative leave with pay or leave of absence with pay.  Subject to the stated eligibility requirements, the employee’s salary and benefits continuation is achieved through donations of accrued vacation hours from the employee’s colleagues.
