We extend our condolences to the Virginia Tech University community as they cope with the tragic events experienced on their campus.
As we all try to make sense of senseless events, The Academic and Staff Assistance Program is here to help support the UCSB community. It is times like these when communities need to rely on the strength and resilience we have created in our campus bonds. If you feel affected by the events at Virginia Tech or if this is re-triggering or re-stimulating memories of tragedy or violence you have experienced in your life, please feel free to call ASAP at 893-3318. Mention that you are affected by the Virginia Tech events and we will have emergency counseling services available. We will also respond to groups who would like to meet together along with a counselor to discuss how to cope with feelings arising from this tragedy.
Lastly, it is important to remember that we all deal with tragedy differently. Some may need to talk; others will want to get on with business as usual. Let us all respect and support each other.
