Re: Civil and Responsible Environment Team (CARE)
UCSB is committed to maintaining an environment in which all members of our community can learn, work and live with civility.
The CARE Team is one resource you may want to use if anyone in your department is experiencing uncivil or potentially dangerous behaviors by faculty, staff, students or members of the general public. CARE maintains a dedicated telephone line at 893-5465. You may contact this line during normal business hours. If the situation is an emergency, we urge you to call the campus police from a campus telephone at 9-911.
Please think of CARE not only in crisis situations, but also when anyone is experiencing ongoing uncivil behavior in the workplace. Inappropriate behaviors that have gone unchecked over time tend to escalate and cause an unsettled environment.
The CARE Team will:
- Provide consultation to any individual or group
- Provide incident assessment, referrals and intervention as appropriate
- Provide education/training to the campus
We encourage you to use early intervention with any developing problems.
